About Us

About Horse Talk Australia

At Horse Talk Australia, my work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins with connection — to ourselves, to others, and to the environments we live and grow within.

Through counselling and experiential approaches with horses, I support people to pause, reflect, and reconnect with their own strengths, insight, and capacity for growth. When individuals feel heard, respected, and safe, they are better able to explore challenges, develop resilience, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

The Horse Talk approach is built on the understanding that growth rarely happens in isolation. Our wellbeing is shaped by the relationships and support systems around us. For young people in particular, the presence of supportive parents, carers, and family members can play a powerful role in strengthening emotional resilience and long-term wellbeing.

For this reason, Horse Talk includes a family and supporter component within the model of practice. Parents and carers may be invited to learn simple tools that help reinforce emotional regulation, communication, and connection at home. These sessions focus on empowering the people who support young people every day, while always respecting the privacy and therapeutic space of the young person.

This collaborative approach helps create a stronger foundation for change, allowing the learning and insight developed during sessions to continue in everyday life.

My practice is informed by trauma-informed and strengths-based principles. This means recognising the impact life experiences can have on how people think, feel, and relate to others, while also focusing on the inherent strengths and resources each person brings to their journey.

I see safety as fundamentally relational. While systems, policies, and procedures play an important role in supporting wellbeing, genuine psychological safety develops when people experience empathy, curiosity, and authentic connection in their interactions with others.

Working with horses adds another powerful dimension to this process. Horses respond honestly to human emotion and presence, offering immediate feedback that can deepen awareness, encourage emotional regulation, and support authentic connection.

My work is also shaped by lived and living experience, alongside formal counselling training. This perspective brings a depth of empathy and practical understanding to the work, allowing me to meet people where they are and support growth in ways that are compassionate, grounded, and realistic.

At Horse Talk Australia, the aim is simple: to create a space where individuals — and the people who support them — can reconnect with their strengths and move forward with greater confidence, understanding, and hope.

“At Horse Talk, growth is not something you have to face alone — it is something we nurture together, with the wisdom of the horses and the strength of supportive relationships.”
