‘The Stable Door’ Counselling & Support Service

Consulting rooms now open at:

Violet Town Community House –  Cowslip Street, Violet Town

Mansfield Medical Clinic – 49 Highett Street, Mansfield

My Approach

I believe that healing happens in a safe, supportive space where you feel truly seen and heard. My approach is warm, person-centred, and trauma-informed, meaning I tailor support to your unique needs and experiences. I focus on strengths and resilience, helping you build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and confidence in all areas of life—mind, body, and spirit.

I draw from evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt psychotherapy, somatic experiential learning, and mindfulness practices. These approaches help make sense of past experiences, shift unhelpful patterns, and develop practical strategies for healing and personal growth.

How I Can Support You

I work with people facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, and major life transitions. Whether through traditional counselling or hands-on experiential learning—including equine-assisted therapy when appropriate—I guide individuals toward deeper self-understanding, inner strength, and lasting change.

I also value collaboration with care teams to ensure a holistic and well-rounded approach to your well-being. My goal is to empower you with the tools and insights needed to navigate life with greater ease, clarity, and self-compassion.

Working with a Counsellor

Working with a counsellor can provide numerous benefits including improved mental health, better coping mechanisms for difficult emotions, deeper self-understanding, enhanced relationship skills, and the ability to manage stressful life events more effectively by providing a safe space to explore thoughts and feelings without judgment, and develop personalised strategies to address challenges.

For some people, just the process of telling their story to a counsellor, and being listened to, is helpful.

“I had heaps of issues at work and I really struggled to manage everyone’s expectations. Robyn helped me to work out what was most important to me, gave me clarity on what boundaries I needed to maintain and gave me the tools to be able to move froward with confidence and a new self-respect” – Angus
