Our holistic approach integrates horses into therapy sessions that address various aspects of well-being, including cognitive, emotional, behavioural, relational, and even spiritual dimensions.
Assisted by horses, you will begin to learn about yourself, your relationships with others and how the environment around you can influence the way you are.
Robyn Reed, Principal Practitioner
Through experiential learning you will be assisted to understand how trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and PTSD affects your unique situation and circumstances. Your interactions with the horses will develop your self-awareness, find coping strategies, and achieve emotional resilience that will support you to make the positive changes in your life that work for you.
You are the centre of your therapeutic process and We are with you every step of the way. Together we will gain insight into how trauma manifests and impacts your life . then, in partnership, we will develop strategies that encourage you to take responsibility for your growth, self-discovery, and positive mental health outcomes.
Our Principles and Practice
At Horse Talk Australia, our principles and practice are underpinned by the Gestalt theory that emphasises the relational and presence aspects of therapy.
Relational Aspect
- emphasises awareness as its central goal, focusing on your immediate experience rather than dwelling on the past or future. Together with the assistance of the horses we collaborate to explore and understand the present moment, encouraging you to attune to sensory experiences, bodily sensations, environmental influences, and meaning-making processes.
Presence Aspect
- a state of openness and flexibility, enables you to fully engage with the present moment, acknowledging how past experiences and contextual factors shape our current experiences. Through presence, you can affirm the humanity of others, fostering deep compassion and transformative connections.
